Having fun - Celebrating together – Getting to know people. However some people are pushy and their actions are unwanted by women. And: Molestation does occure at the "Octoberfest". Here are a couple of tips to make the visit to the Oktoberfest carefree and without trouble: | - You're the person who knows best when it's not fun for you anymore. Trust your feelings and set limits!
- You're the person who can best assess, how much alcohol you can take. Keep in a state, in which you are still capable of setting limits to others.
Don't let anyone ruin your fun! What can you do to prevent assaults? - Arrange with your friends in advance a safe way back home.
- Go to the Oktoberfest with others and stay in your group.
- Set limits if it's getting too crazy for you. Nobody has to tolerate harassment or groping.
- Make sure your friends know when the fun ends for you and danger starts. This will help you help each other.
- Don’t let a stranger accompany you.
Is this your first visit to the Oktoberfest? - Always keep your cell phone, money an hotel address on you.
- Arrange a meeting point, e.g. the giant wheel in case you get lost.
| - Go in pairs to the toilets so that you are not alone in case of an emergency.
- Join a group of women or a mixed group on the way to the subway.
- Don't let a new acquaintance accompany you or even drive you home.
- Take a cell phone so that you can call friends and the police (112).
And in a serious or threatening situation? - Don't use a familiar tone (or name) with the perpetrator.
- Speak loudly and say clearly, what you want him to stop doing.
- Stay persistent.
- Don't be afraid of embarrassing yourself: make it public (draw attention to yourself, scream, that's how you confuse the perpetrator and throw him off).
- Adress specific people around you and ask for help.
- Defend yourself.
- Use objects you have with you to defend yourself.
- Go to the designated Security Point. You can find counsellors who will help you and take action.
